i don't seem to have any luck growing herbs from seed and keeping them alive. some of the plants grow faster than others, but i've just been trimming them down to let others catch up.
it is incredibly bright. i find it wonderful to have fresh herbs at hand in the winter.
working very well so far. the only thing is to set the light timer to go off around bed time.
i've wanted one of these since i saw it in an overpriced kitchen store last summer. this neat little machine had the seeds started in no time at all.
i just set it up less than four weeks ago and i already got to use my basil.
In that respect, if the unit only lasted a year, I wouldn't replace it as they certainly aren't cost-effective to purchase over and over. My current crop is garden flowers and the flowers are lush and pouring out of the unit. My first crop was herbs, all of which grew beautifully and abundant. I guess it never occurred to me how long the unit would last; I hope it will last some time. I'm sorry to read so many have had problems with their AeroGarden. I have had mine for a year and have absolutely loved it. Really lovely in the dead of winter.
did disinfect with hydrogen peroxide not bleach for my second planting. why. i unfortunately stuck with the pro200. called support at aerogrow and they said they cant do anything about it except send another seed kit and I should disinfect the system again. even tried to pull out any seed casings or seeds that did not sprout to avoid the mold. very disappointing.salad greens look like they are limp and dying. very frustrating.
will try to plant my third set of seeds after using chlorine bleach this time. no clear answers. even added hydrogen peroxide to the reservoir. both have failed. white fuzz aka fungus/mold. failed.
roots are becoming brown. would not recommend purchasing the aerogrow. I use well-filtered water and followed the directions to grow herbs and then salad greens. kept water levels high at all times. mold is greatly reduced however salad greens look sick and dying.
No green thumb required. You can even use your own seeds. Fast growing, fresh produce that you know is safe to eat. Pennies a day for water and electricity. Could not be easier.
They don't answer their phones, they don't return calls, and they don't respond to email. My three star rating is not because of the product, but because the company's customer service is basically non-existent. The AeroGarden works well and I am happy with my plants. It is, as another review commented, a bit noisy. If you have a problem with the product, forget about getting any support.
